RAFT
Photo 25 x 25 cm
France, Paris, 2024
The photograph The Radeau is a metaphor for modern migration, particularly for people forced to leave their homes due to political repression, wars, and discrimination. Like the survivors of The Raft of the Medusa, they remain in suspension: without status, without guarantees, and without certainty about the future.
Global crises such as wars, climate change, and the persecution of minorities create millions of refugees whose fates are determined by ruthless political decisions. The world has become a battlefield for a place in the sun, while bureaucratic barriers and social hostility often make the path to a new life as desperate as waiting for rescue on a raft in the open sea.
This work addresses the fragility of human existence. It reminds us that migration is not only a political issue, but also the tragedy of individual destinies — people who, like the figures in Géricault’s The Raft of the Medusa, dream of salvation and a better future.
